Fedak, Lykina in Final Qualifying round at Sony Ericsson Tashkent Open

Tashkent, September 20: Top seeded Yuliana Fedak of Ukraine moved a step closer to qualifying for the main draw, while local hope Albina Khabibulina was stopped by fourth seed Ksenia Lykina in the second round qualifying at the11th edition of the Sony Ericsson Tashkent Open being played at the Olympic Tennis school here.

In the matches played today Fedek quelled a late challenge from Russian wildcard Aminat Kushkova winning 6-2,7-5. Local girl Albina Khabibulina who showed promise winning her first round yesterday went down without a fight to fourth seeded Ksenia Lykina. The fourth seed Russian Lykina won 6-3,6-1.

The other seeds who moved into the final round include Eighth seeded Lesya Tsurenko of Ukraine who put out Anastasiya Prenko of Turkmenistan 7-6(6), 6-0 ,Seventh seeded Natalia Orlova of Russia who outplayed Israeli Julia Glushko 6-1,6-3 ,Sixth seeded Arina Rodionova of Russia who accounted for Karolina Wlodarczak of Australia 6-2,6-1 and fifth seed Alexandra Panova of Russia who won two back to back matches also moved into the final round scraping past a fighting Karla Mraz of France 7-5,4-6,6-4 in the longest match of the day

French duo of Laura Thorpe and Kristina Mladenovic were the only unseeded players to move into the final round to be played tomorrow.
