Toughest Tashkent Open ever : Akgul Amanmuradova

Tashkent September 8 :It is one of the toughest draws in the history of Tashkent Open and every match is tough and winners unpredictable said Akgul Amanmuradova Uzbekistan’s topmost women’s player while speaking at the draw ceremony of the 14th edition of the Tashkent Open WTA Championships.

The draws for the  Tashkent Open were made here this evening ,the WTA Supervisor  Martina Lutkova , Tournament Director S. Uthrapathy ,  along with Fasliddin Ziyaev Deputy Mayor of Tashkent   and  local star Akgul Amanmuradova     were present at an impressive draw ceremony held at the Olympic Tennis school complex

The top Half of the draw will  have apart from the top seed Monica Niculescu, fourth seeded Magdalena Rybarikova , fifth seeded Alexandra Cadantu and sixth seeded Bojana Jovanovski . The lower half of the draw consists of  second seeded Urszula Radwanska , Third seeded Alize Cornet , Seventh seeded Alexandra Panova and eighth seeded Galina Voskoboeva .

With four of the eight seeds having won a WTA tour event this year  the competition looks much tougher , she added
Topseeded  Monica Niculescu of Romania ranked 33  will take on Karin Knapp of Italy in the first round   while second seeded 43rd ranked Urszula Radwanska  will clash with Spanish player Maria-Teresa Torro -Flor  .   Frenchwoman Alize Cornet  ranked third at the event this year  will take on  Nina Bratchikova ranked 91st  in the world

Fourth seeded Magdalena Rybarikova will take on a qualifier  , while Local star Akgul Amanmuradova  who been a  finalist twice here  will take on Inna -Camelia Begu of Romania in a tough opening round.

Wildcard entrants   and local girls  Sabina Sharipova will take on compatriot Vlada Ekshibarova guaranteeing a second round for at least one Uzbek , while   Nigina Abduraimova will take  Vitalia Diatchenko in the opening round  .

I’m extremely happy that the event is getting tougher every year   no single player can be singled out as favourite ,    . The cut off is  129 this year compared to 142 last year , which speaks about the strength of the event, said  S. Uthrapathy  tournament director.   From this year onwards we will have the winner of the event will plant a tree at the venue  , also the winner here will surely get a spot for the Sofia event of champions , he added.

Speaking at today’s draw ceremony WTA Tour Supervisor Martina Lutkova said: “Over the years the tournament has grown in stature and that’s because both the City of Tashkent and the Uzbekistan Tennis Federation have worked towards improving it year after year , the event is very tough one    this year.”, she added

This year the tournament has 11 players from the Top-100 in fray and 12 players from the Top-125 bracket.
