Belgian Alison Van Uytvanck is new champion at Tashkent Open

Tashkent , Uzbekistan  September 28 :  Third seed Alison Van Uytvanck  of Belgium  ensured the  record  of Tashkent Open   where  no former winner came back to win the crown twice remained intact  as she prevailed over eighth seeded and former champion  Sorana Cirstea of Romania to win the 21st edition of  the Tashkent Open WTA Championships which concluded on the Olympic School of Tennis Courts here .

No.3 seed Alison Van Uytvanck, won  her second title of 2019  and  fourth overall  prevailing over former champion and No.8 seed  Sorana Cirstea. 6-2,4-6,6-4 in a Two hour  and 24 minutes 

 Van Uytvanck  who was  playing her fifth career final, and second of the season following Budapest in February - claimed her  first ever title in a  match outdoors. The 25-year-old  extended  her perfect 3-0 record in finals, having won all previous three in deciding sets: 5-7, 6-4, 6-1 over Timea Babos at Québec City 2017, 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 over Dominika Cibulkova at Budapest 2018 and 1-6, 7-5, 6-2 over Marketa Vondrousova to defend Budapest this year.

Van Uytvanck who did not  drop a set en route to the final, and conceded only 18 games in four match could'nt join the elite list of  Seven players who won WTA titles without dropping a set in 2019 so far,  as she lost the second set in a highly  exciting final

In the first set  Sorana was  broken in very first game after being up 40-15 , Alison then held the second game to go up 2-0 . in the Third game Sorana saved 2 breakpoints to hold on and get the game 1-2  , Alison held on a easy fourth game to go up 3-1. Sorana managed to  hold the 5th game to get the scores to 3-2 ,

Alison held the 6th game to go up 4-2, Alison broke Sorana again in the 7th game to go up 5-2 . Alison held on the 8th game at 30 to take the set 6-2 in 40 minute   Alison had a high 80% service in the set

In the 2nd set Sorana started well  and held on to go up  1-0 , Alison held the second game to level 1-1 , Sorana held her third  game to go up 2-1 and then broke Alison in the 4th game to go up 3-1 and bring life into the match she then held on to the 5th game get the score to 4-1 . Alison held the 6th game to reduce deficit to 2-4,

In the seventh game which saw some good rallies saw Sorana held on to go up 5-2 Alison held on the 8th game to get the scores  to 5-3 . Alison broke Sorana in the 9th game to reduce the margin to 5-4 , Sorana broke back immediately in the 10th game to hold on and win the set and level set scores .

In the final set a  quick game saw Sorana up 1-0 , Sorana looked confident going  after   the Belgian's second serves , but   Alison fought bravely to  save  six  breakpoints , in a game lasting over 10 minutes    holding  on  with   a lucky net cord  and a solid serve    leveling  scores at 1-1 after 8 deuces

In the third game  Sorana was broken on the   third break point  after an erratic service game which saw an ace and double fault which also saw her go down 1-2 . In the fourth game  Alison held to go up 3-1 , Sorana held the 5th to get score to 2-3. in the sixth game Alison saved a break point to go up 4-2. Sorana held on to the 7th game to get the score to 3-4 , Alison took the 8th game to go up 5-3 , Sorana held on to reduce the deficit to 4-5.

In a pressured 10th game Alison went up 40-15  but   Sorana  egged on by  the crowd managed to save  4 match points  but Alison  clinched the   5th match point   with Sorana forehand going over the baseline to  seal a  win 6-4 and also  ensure   the record  of  no player ever  winning  the Tashkent Open title twice remained intact  in the eventful 21 years of the competition

It was an Unbelievable match , I'm still shaking after my win  , Sorana  started playing well in the second set , I had to serve well as  she was Crushing my  second serves will give lot of confidence .  I'm Happy to get through  with a win ,  I  have only 2 weeks left for me  in the season  and  really so happy to bag this title , said the 25 year old   Van Uytvanck, who is guaranteed to return to the Top 50 next week, and  also the second Belgian finalist in Tashkent's history following Laurence Courtois, who was runner-up in the inaugural 1999 event to Anna Smashnova.

Speaking about the match Sorana Said " It was close just matter of few points , I'm happy as the match was truly high level , congratulations to Alison for the way she played , I'm satisfied and happy with the way I played the whole week ".

Cirstea, whose only previous WTA title came here in 2008 was bidding to become the first ever two-time winner of the Tashkent Open in the tournament's 21st and final year was also   the sixth player to reach the final twice, following Iroda Tulyaganova (2000 champion and 2006 runner-up), Bojana Jovanovski Petrovic (2013 champion, 2014 runner-up), Nao Hibino (2015 champion, 2016 runner-up), Akgul Amanmuradova (2005 and 2009 runner-up) and Donna Vekic (2012 and 2015 runner-up).

Sorana will also move up in the rankings moving about  20  places in the new rankings next week . The winner   gained  $43000 and 280 WTA points , while  the finalist up got  $21400  and 180 WTA points ,

The prizes  were given at the hands of  Rustam Shaabdurakhmanov President of the National Olympic Committe of Uzbekistan  , Deputy Monister of Physical Culture and sport of republic of Uzbekistan Sharafjon Mimumdjanov , Tournament Director Valera Lim and  WTA Supervisor Martina Lutkova were present on the occasion
