Tashkent Open awarded the WTA's prestigious Dr. Irving Glick Global Award for best tournament physicians

Tashkent , September 27  :  WTA   selected    the Tashkent Open  medical team  for the  prestigious 2018  Dr. Irving Glick Award instituted  In honor of  one of  WTA’s most outstanding tournament physicians   Dr. Irving Glick and for  his  contributions to tennis medicine.

This award has been in existence since the turn of the 21st century and serves to recognize and honor outstanding knowledge, expertise, and a high level of care on the part of tournament physicians. At the end of each tennis season, the members of the WTA’s Sport Sciences & Medicine team review the many contributions of the tournament physicians they have worked with during the year and present this award to the physicians who live up to the high standards  Dr. Glick set in the world of tennis ,  informed  Anne Sophie Lauren and Kate Watson   Primary Health Care Provider (PHCP)  for the WTA Tashkent Open

On behalf of the WTA and its athletes we are pleased to recognize the medical team of the Tashkent Open as the recipients of the award  read a citation . For the past several years, this team of physicians at  Tashkent Open has provided the highest quality medical care to   athletes, demonstrated genuine care and concern for the well-being of the athletes, and even looked after the well-being of the staff onsite   , they added reading the citation.

The physicians do anything in their power to provide high level of care for our athletes. They are always available to assist in any way possible. Working with the fantastic physicians at this tournament, who consistently go above and beyond what is asked of them, makes our job as primary healthcare providers much easier , they added

The award was received  by Dr. Dimitriy Khegay on behalf of  his team  and  the Tashkent Open  , the award was given away at the hands of  WTA Supervisor Martina Lutkova  and third seeded Alison Van Uytvanck

 The WTA’s instituted the  award  in honor of    Dr. Irving Glick. who  was  the Chief Medical Officer for the U.S. Open for over 20 years , and  made important contributions to tennis science and medicine . Dr Glick also Founded and chaired the Sports Medicine Advisory Committee of the USTA , Served on Medical Commission for the ITF and Was the Science coordinator for Tennis Sports Medicine – Olympics

Dr. Glick made many outstanding professional contributions to the world of tennis. He has been inducted into the USTA Eastern Tennis Hall of Fame and was the recipient of the International Tennis Hall of Fame Educational Merit Award.
