Good Results after long Struggle : Barthel

It feels Great to have good results after a struggling   for the past six months " said   Germany's  Mona Barthel  after her upset win over second seeded  66th ranked Vera  Lapko.

Speaking to the Tashkent media Team after reaching the  semifinals here   , the tall German who has four WTA titles to her credit said , "   since  the Prague event in  2017 , I have  struggled and I went out of the  top 100 this year  ,  I have had a lots of Ups  and Down , but the last few weeks  I have played some good matches and feeling better now" .

On her upset win today ,  Barthel who also made the finals of the $125K Challenger at Chicago few weeks ago  said " It was a tough match , my whole plan was to  focus on game and put  pressure on her , she had some opportunities to break me in the second set , but I   served well and played aggressively on break points and that was the key to my win today.

On her journey to the last four here Barthel  said  "  I have played Two tough three set  matches in two days , it's not easy to play three setter matches , but I tried  to give  best  and be focused . I like the atmosphere and the conditions  here . I like  the tournament ,  it's my  first time here , the  city is beautiful and people are great , and  look to play semifinals and spend some more days here ", said the   former world No 23 player.

When told she looked favorite for the title the Smiling German  said "  All the girls in the draw are good players , I'm not thinking about title but my performance  match by match ,  I know I just have to play my best tennis every day ".

Speaking on the current  German women's tennis scene  , the 28 year old Barthel  said " Overall we have good players Angelique and Georges who are playing well , others have had mixed results  , but  we are all working to get back  and we will be back.

Asked about what advice she would like to give the upcoming girls players  Barthel said "  It's tough to give advice , But I can say be  true to yourself , set  goals , have a game plan , work every single day , there are no secrets , as one has to put a lot of  hard work and smart work and be consistent in approach to the game ".
