Nigina Spoke to the Tashkent Open Media Tem after her win

How do you feel after this big win ?

Nigina : It was a tough match , I played my best tennis , I'm very happy to be in the 2nd round after a gap of 5 years, I understand the importance of this win very well now.  I was playing relaxed not thinking about points or the seeded player , I just wanted to play freely and I did it.

You have played her before , did you think about it ?

Yes I had lost to her at Hobart , I was suffering from bad throat infection then , but I knew how she plays  and knew how to counter her Spanish technique . She is a good player but today I was better for sure.

How has the year been for you so far ?

I have  had a great year at home , winning a few tournaments , My ranking and game has also gone up , I used to like hard court , but now i feel comfortable on clay courts too . I'm much improved to play on all surfaces . Now I'm 189 and would like to get to top 150 by the end of the year if I continue to  play confidently like today

The Tashkent Open is turning out to be good hunting ground for Local players? Uzbekistan Tennis Federation has also played major role in your growth

I would be thankful  to him that they are doing a lot for our players taking a lot of international events in all regions this helps us to get points and get better , I'm happy that the Tashkent open is gaining in stature every year and is benefitting local players , Getting the wildcard here is alike a magic wand and hope it turns into a fairy tale ending for me.

On Uzbekistan hopes at Asian Games  ?

We have a great team , we reached the final of the zonal Fed cup and lost narrowly  , but we will surely try and do well in both singles and Doubles and try and win a few medals for our nation.
