Interview of the Day : Bojana Jovanovski

13 September 2013

Bidding for her first final appearance of 2013 and second career title ( Having won first at Baku in 2012) , this year has been best for Bojana Jovanovski , the top seed here in terms of results at majors , but not in terms of her health .

Having reached the 4th round at Australian Open , 3rd round at Roland Garros and Quarterfinals at Shenzen. Currently Serbia’s No 3 behind Ivanovic and Jankovic , this is Bojana’s third consecutive appearance at Tashkent  this year.
The ever smiling Bojana who is now the crowd favorite here spoke to the Tashkent Open Media Team.

About her match today

It’s the first time I played Torro-Flor who has been having a good run at the tournament , "  It was a difficult start  and I personally   don’t like early start because I  take some time to  warm up, After two games I started  playing  well, and felt great with my rhythm and strokes  . Also entering the  tournament late has helped  as I  got feel of the courts and also it  was good warm up for me

You have finally made it to the finals after Three years:

I love playing here I was too young when I came first time , last year I reached the quarterfinals Its great feeling to be the playing the finals here after being here for three years in a row . I will suely come back again.

Do you rate this as  your best performance of the year

Actually I would  rate  my 4th round  performance at Australian Open this year  as more notable

The year in your perspective

Though this year has been best   in terms of results at majors and reaching my highest ranking of 38  , but it has not been  in terms of health .  I had a disc problem  after the Australian Open wh, couldn’t walk for six weeks , but I’m happy to be back ad playing.

It’s third time I’m coming back this year it took long time  ,  but no  I’m much better , I’m physically better
But tennis wise need much more  practise to get sharper as I have 5 more events to go

Would you  share with us about the time you spent off court

It was Really tough for me , I believed in myself and worked physically  mentally  off the court.  My father helped me a lot .
He was very positive , believing in me  and providing great support . He is very forward looking and  told me  not to  worry about results  at tournaments but just t go ahead and that has truly  helped me to remain positive and focused.

On Tennis being her life :

I’ve been playing since  6 years old and now tennis has become a habit for me and I surely can’t live without tennis .  Sometimes  I ’m  not tired from tennis , but travelling , packing bags , but I this year was different I  spent  a lot of time at  home this  year so I’m fresh this year  and wanting to play more.

About  the impact your  Fed Cup teammates  Ivanovic and Jankovic have made on you

I was 16 years  when I got into the  Serbian Fed cup team , as a youngster they made  a positive impact on me   helping  me and guiding me , even now  we are all helping each other when we travel and its fun to be with them and other players from my nation.

On Tashkent Open

This is my third visit , and I love the tournament  , It’s getting better and better every passing here , also I have lot of people who support me. The arrangements and the hospitality here is really nice and I appreciate it.
